Digital parking system at Pfarrwiesensee in Gimbsheim
“Since the parking lot is part of a swimming lake, we have a special situation here, because most people leave the lake in the evening. At this peak time, the vending machines may be more busy than during the day. The app payment and the day ticket, which can be purchased upon arrival, are alternatives that do not require a trip to the pay machine after a day at the lake. When introducing the new, barrier-free system, we deliberately opted for these diverse payment options.”

The challenge
The beach at Pfarrwiesensee in Rhineland-Palatinate is a popular destination, especially in summer. Due to the popularity, there were regular backlogs at entrances and exits during peak season on weekends. Waiting times at parking ticket machines caused additional frustration for bathers.
Our solution
Six scanners record the license plates of arriving and departing vehicles, which determine the parking time. At the end of their stay, bathers make cashless payments at one of the two vending machines, giving their license plate number, or buy day or season passes at the beginning of their visit. This allows them to leave the parking area spontaneously at any time. For visitors who pay for their parking transaction via the EasyPark app, there is no need to go to the vending machine altogether.
